Thanks...it looks a lot simpler than the way I've been doing it.

Noahnott has pointed out a flaw, instead of skewing the duplicating and flipping vertically, duplicate first, flip vertically, merge layers and skew from there.

Looks interesting. Can anybody translate from Photoshop? Not necessarily to Gimp equivalents, but to instructions that could be turned into them. (E.g. what does ctrl+t do in PS? Which box?) Or am I just missing the point?

I'd like to know how to do the skewed versions, though. My reflections are always straight, though I don't do them quite like this anyway, I don't think... I know I used a tutorial, but it didn't mention the skewed option...

There is a major mistake in this, i'll just re-write the tutorial here as it will take to long to upload the image (went over download limit this month :\, bought games through steam)

Simplified:

1/ select any image you would like to make a reflection of, duplicate that layer.

2/ flip it VERTICALLY and drag it down

3/ enter quickmask mode, use gradient black to transperant and drag it from top of the layer to the bottom. (OPTIONAL! Reduce opactity to make a less clear reflection.)

4/ merge these layers and press ctrl+t (free transform). Right click in the box and select skew and drag the top left and bottom right points in to the right and towards the centre a little bit.

your done :)
